The Shukokai crew enjoyed a fantastic training seminar with some of the countries best traditional martial artists at the Australasian Federation of Traditional Karate & Kobudo AFTK QLD seminar.
These seminars not only foster great friendships across many styles but they also preserve and grow traditional karate.
looking forward to the next one
Congratulations to Sensei Kahlia Mitchell
Congratulations to Sensei Kahlia Mitchell of Shukokai Hervey Bay Martial Arts on achieving Karatedo Yondan (4th Dan).
After an extensive virtual pre-assessment and an in-person examination today by an independent panel, Sensei Kahlia demonstrated her technical skill, theoretical understanding, and leadership by also delivering a seminar session.
The certificate was presented by Mr Reece Cummings, AFTK President, on behalf of the Management Committee, and Examination Panel.
An outstanding milestone that reflects years of dedication to the art—well deserved!

ALLIED MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING SEMINAR
AUGUST 2025
We were very blessed to be able to take part in a last weekends training seminar with two other local martial arts clubs.
It was fantastic to see martial artists from all ages, skill levels and styles coming together to share this knowledge.
We hope to continue to foster these friendships with other local clubs and to share our collective knowledge of martial arts.
GRADING DAY - JUNE 2025
Well done to all our juniors and seniors who successfully completed their gradings this weekend.
Everyone performed wonderfully and should be very proud of their achievements.
And a big thank you to our helpers, they always make running gradings a little easier.
2024 AMAC National Titles
Huge congratulations to our 4 competitors at the 2024 AMAC Nationals. Stirling, Brock, Nessy, and Gabe all performed very well against very experienced competitors.
There was a couple unlucky near misses on placings but the team rallied behind each other and came home with 6 placings.
Everyone performed incredibly well, taking to heart the advice given to them and working hard to make improvements. We couldn't be more proud of everyone's performance.
The Bayliss Boys
FCAC students and brothers Stirling and Brock recently celebrated success at the National All Styles (NAS) National Titles competition.
Both boys entered multiple events and came away with placings.
Stirling is now recognised as the Australian National Champion as he won a first place and also placed second in another division, Brock was able to win a second place in one of his events.
Training with the team at Bubishi Martial Arts, Stirling & Brock have also been preparing to grade with Stirling having chosen to take on the trials of testing for his black belt under the requirements of an adult and Brock will be testing for his 1st Kyu Brown belt in December.
We are super proud!
