KARATE
We teach Shukokai Karate, a Shito-Ryu based traditional Japanese Karate. Shukokai Karate was first developed in 1949 by Chojiro Tani in Kobe Japan.
Shukokai Karate Dojo was established in Australia by Sensei Alan Murdoch (7th Dan) in 1972, our Head Dojo is located in Melbourne. The Hervey Bay Shukokai Karate Dojo was established in 1995.
The Chief instructor of the Hervey Bay Dojo is Sensei Glen Smith
3rd Dan, sub-instructors include Sensei Matthew Smith 1st Dan, Sempai Linda Applebee 1st Dan, and Sempai Kahlia Smith

We offer Classes for all age groups in traditional Japanese Karate ranging from three years of age. Our Junior and Senior classes are further divided into novice and advanced classes to ensure continuity within the class environment.
TAI CHI
We are associated with the Australian Academy of Tai Chi and our Tai Chi classes are held each Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon, all levels are catered for.
FITNESS
The Institute runs three general fitness and self defence classes per week and private tuition is also available.
SAFETY
For your added safety we train on approved 'softfall matting' and all instructors are duly qualified and hold Queensland State department “working with children” authority cards.
